Make some impeller SNOW SEALS . Look it up on youtube for the details but it involves nothing more than a few pieces of old rubber belt, tread mill belt, mud guard or
similar and a few self tapping sheep metal screws. That's it. Just cut the rubber so it's an interference fit on the impeller (small finger chopping blades) and leave them a dragging fit. Works like a charm and no more plugging EVER . I have even blown watery slush and it never plugs. Also throws snow much farther per engine RPM setting as well.

Did that to my old 5hp push blower. Worked well. Excess rubber wore off quickly & it was a bit of a dog until it did. But once it was broken in I had less plugging issues.

Here's a much easier, faster and cheaper way to do the same thing. I did it to my 1977 Ariens 24" 8hp 3 winters ago. Wow, what a difference. It'll throw slush now. I used some new elevator belt I picked up from work. I also put them
on every impeller blade. Put as tight as you can against the outside of the housing, they'll wear in to a nice chamfer in no time.

Another tip. Spray Fluid Film on chute, impeller and housing and auger and housing. If you have to keep you blower outside, covered like me it won't freeze together.

Here's a different video from the same guy showing a side-by-side comparison of with and without the add-on.
