On the cab 3000 and 4000 series, what does the deicer switch do? (Has a snowflake symbol). Is is suppose to be off in the summer and on in the winter? Whenever I have turned it on or off, there doesn't seem to be much difference. Can't find any useful info in the manual.

Umm...on my 3520 Cab it turns the A/C on or off.....with it in the off position the air is muggy and hot....with it on, it blows nice cool dry air. If it "doesnt make much difference" then you might want to have it checked out. I know theres a HUGE difference on mine.
I know a common problem on the 3x20 and 4x20 cabbed machines with poor heat & A/C is caused by a busted Roof Gasket...I know they had to put a new one on my tractor before delivering it because when they "popped the top" to install the CD Player & Speakers it tore the gasket...

Yes like most Auto AC systems that switch with the snowflake symbol means AC Cold!

I leave it in the on position because I don't know where to leave it or just don't remember it is there. The few times I tried it in the off position was when it was cooler and didn't leave it long in the off mode.

A related question. Many switches have "O" and "l" for off and on. In my mind the "O" means off. What does the "l" on switches mean?

I know, those O/I Switches used to always get me confused. I always knew what stood for what when I'm in my tractor.... but when I'm trying to start my weedwhacker with this switch.... I always got confused.... I had to go look in my tractor to see what my loadmatch switch looked like... Nothing like pulling a rope start.. forever just to find out you are in the off position....

so now I have to refer the O as Off / and the I as Ignition.. just to get it straight in my head.

It isn't "O" or "I" it's zero or one. Think binary. Zero means off, one is on.

The symbols were derived internationally, just like the arrow for "play" and square for "stop" on VCRs and DVD players.
