Car tech, not tractor, but have to do modifications to alot of the trucks we sell. Do one like that and get my but chewed up one side and down the other. Neophyte(sp) work. Hope you get it fixed.

Deere could have done allot better job of designing the plastic housing for the 3rd SCV Lever.

Knowing there would be a need for a slot when adding an optional SCV lever they could have molded the slot/hole into the part and and a snap in cover to hide the slot. A 5 second job for the Deere assembler to pop in the cover on the assembly line. When adding an SCV pop out the cover and discard it. A 50 cent part that would save a dealer probably an hours work.

At minimun they could have molded in a registration line outlinging the slot to be used as a guide for adding the slot.

If it's anything like the plastic PTO shaft cover (that my dealer took off and kept for himself), it's not 50 cents, more like $25.

The 3rd valve kit doesn't come with a new cover as far as I know.

They did.....on the Cabbed models. Mine had the slot there ready to go....not even a cover on it. The slot and lever mounts are already there for the Mid-PTO selector too....:D

My open station 4720 did not have a factory slot.

I had not heard from the dealer since I emailed them, so I called them today. Not a big deal, I've been out of town anyway. First talked to my salesman, who said he couldn't talk and would have a manager call me ASAP. A couple minutes later an assistant manager called.

I went through everything I had said in my email, and he was very apologetic and acted very willing to make it right. He said the new 3rd SCV cover was on order already, and they had a loader in stock that they could swap out for me. He told me they could pick the tractor up in the morning and return it before the end of the day. The only thing I'm not sure of is if he intends on replacing the whole loader or just the mounting posts. If not the whole loader, I'll ask them to sign a statement that I can keep on record that they chose not to replace it, even though I was afraid it may be damaged. I'll also see if they can throw in a 50hr service kit for my troubles.

On another note, the dealer said they cannot buy the cover with the slot already cut. Said it has a line marked where to cut, and they have to do it themselves. We'll see how it comes out the second time.

Sounds like I may not have to fight to get them to make it right. I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

Good for you, Jason!

It will all be worth it in the end, when you can enjoy the tractor you paid for, in the condition that you paid for.
