Grading How well does your draft control work on a LS R4041 or R4047 in particular?

Almost ready to purchase a new tractor and have my choices down to a LS R4041H/R4047H or Kioti DK40SE HST/ DK45SE HST, primarily depending up how the dealers come back with the quotes for a package deal.

Recently the LS dealer mentioned in his experience, the draft control just raises and lowers the implement (no idea which) too often and he does not use it.

What are your experiences?

Most draft controls should have settings. If those settings are not set properly, then the draft control does not work properly. As in what your dealer has said leads me to believe that he does not know how to properly set it. The settings are different per tractor, per implement, per ground conditions. It IS NOT a pull the lever and it is on type of thing.

Both tractors are VERY GOOD machines IMO, you won't go wrong with either one.

Thanks. So the LS draft issue I noted may have just been an adjustment/tuning issue. Glad to hear a positive response for the LS.

After 40 + years of running a tractor I can only remember using draft control a minimal number of times. As a boy through adulthood (is that a word) I (we) only used draft control when plowing, and that was only on the new tractor the 1971 ford 2000 because draft control didn't work at that time on the jubilee. We only farmed between 50 to 60 acres but that was a lot for that size tractors and it took several years before we even used the draft control on the 2000 because well basically we didn't even know what it was, let alone what it did. Once we used it man it was great and saved a lot on the neck muscles not having to be constantly looking both ways! Since then I have repaired rebuilt the hydraulic system on the jubilee and my brother has the 2000, I think the draft controls works on the jubilee but I haven't ever used it I just don't know what to use it for! We (I) don't plow and or farm any more and any gardening tillage is done with the tiller. So I guess I have a question. What is everyone using draft control for other than plowing that is?

Adjusting the draft control for smaller tractors, especially with R4 tires can be tough. My DK35 HST had too small (in diameter) front tires in my opinion. There was a real fine line between getting the draft control to work properly and not having the tires lose traction. Especially with this years extremely wet conditions.

Ground engagement attachments need some grunt and if your tires lose traction before your draft control can do its job it's almost like chasing your tail.

I traded the Kioti in on a slightly bigger LS :laughing: with R1's and couldn't be happier, draft control works great. I do go through WAY more diesel.....

What is everyone using draft control for other than plowing that is?

I use it when building new roads or even if I am just making a heavy cut with my rear blade.

And my thought is to use it with a box blade for cutting a driveway on rocky property and leveling a building site.
