I agree here.
Owed a friend $400 once. Had cash in my wallet to give him, we went water skiing. Once done we were in parking lot, seperated by about 50 feet and I remembered the money. We were too tired to cover the 50' as he said, aww, just give it to me next week.
Next day, I go skiing with a different friend, was in water BUT had forgotten that I still had my wallet in my pocket.
Lost the wallet during one of my (many) spills along with the $400 I owed friend #1. (so this was a costly lesson because I STILL had to pay friend #1)
Put it all behind me and about 5 years later I got a call from some lady. Seems her husband had been fishing along same lake and found my wallet washed up on shore.
They peeked inside it and it had credit cards, drivers license and other "stuff" that people slide into the little areas. The cash however and everything that was in the BIG compartment, was of course, gone.
I was still, very stunned and appreciateive that someone took the effort to hunt me down after what was in fact, 5 years between seperation.
I guess for the finders, it was probably fairly easy as I was still in town and had public number.
The wallet was straight and stiff as a board so I put it into sink and washed it out, worked it around a bit and finally, put it back into service for several more years.
