Hello Tractor Folks,

I came by a Ford 1500 the hard way - my pop died last year and the tractor came to me.

The old man was a regular fiend about changing fluids and keeping the air up in the tires. Beyond that he wasn't what I would call high on maintenance. He kept in a shed but last few years it's been outside with a couple of tarps for shelter. Nevertheless, it always ran great and is a real worker. I'm sure I don't have to tell you all about that.

This one is a 4WD diesel with a 4-foot brush hog on the back and a heavy duty 702 dozer blade on the front. Man, that blade. It's really braced and has extra side pieces on each end, also braced, and is very efficient at smacking the crap out knees and shins. We use the rig for mowing and pushing snow, and leveling a little dirt now and then.

I'm a musician and don't know jack about engines, machines, or tractoring. But i do like this little rascal. Except maybe could use a little more feet and leg room. I have a lot to learn and it looks like this is a good place for that.

I have some questions for you all, of course, but I have a lot of reading to do first. Better get to it.

Glad to be here.
Just call me Beansoup.

To the TBN forum Beansoup. Sorry to hear about your dad but glad you joined us. You didn't mention how many hours on the Ford or what you are going to be using it for.

If you got you moniker because you like to eat bean soup, then count me in. I like every kind of bean fixed every kind of way.

Thank you mddorange.

I don't know how many hours are on it. Someone did a number on the wiring before Pop ever got it and every dang wire has tape, wire nuts, and changes color at least twice. So I have no head & tail lights, no panel lights or gauges. I guess Pop only cared that it ran good and did the work. He wasn't talented at things like wiring and logic so I'm glad he didn't try to work on that stuff. But he was great in mechanics. I do plan on learning and restoring as much as I can on it.

And yep, love me some bean soup.

Count me in too. Eat beans and lentils right regular. Sorry about your dad, hope all goes well with your tractor schooling. We all have had that one time or another. Welcome Ed

Get the oil pressure indicator working first, then see I it charges, next, temp gauge, past that you could point to point lights if needed.

Thanks Soundguy. That makes sense.

So, do you concert sound, bands, etc.?
