Today I damaged the passenger running board on my ML handicap van using a fast food drive thru. Some mental giant had decided to use an 8" concrete curb to protect a flower bed that for some strange reason kept getting run over by inconsiderate drivers using the drive through. It could have been these same inconsiderate drivers were trying to avoid the large metal post installed by his buddy to prevent them from hitting the expensive glass order window with their mirror. This made me think of all the other moronic construction fubar's that seem to becoming the norm in our country. My bank felt the need to squeeze 5 drive through windows in a space barely wide enough for four which means I have to retract my mirrors on my full side pick to get through. The salt in the wound is they rarely have more than three lanes open and maybe two tellers so what was the point. The same bank installed an ATM in a huge parking lot and there is no way to get a full sized vehicle through without jumping a curve. I suggest we start a grass-roots movement mandating tax funded projects and encouraging public use construction projects to display a sign stating the contractors name and a number to report both the good and bad jobs, this data could be weighted to pick the better contractors for future jobs. Anyone with me??

Yeah it is amazing how there are many more pickups on the road bit we make parking places smaller. I often dread taking the F150 somewhere. Parking can be tough.

Interestingly costco makes their spaces huge and the aisle wide in their parking lot.

Tax funded projects and public use projects are generally known as state, federal, county and and city projects. They are built to spec from drawings engineers make. The contractor just build what is drawn. They might argue with the engineer and get something redrawn. The larger projects will have a construction companies name on the sign. Of course engineers and these agencies might try to force a project. The county and state worked together to put in a new roundabout that is too small for 52' trailer. It works ok for cars and private trucks, just not so swell for big rigs. Just a $100,000 lick and a promise project. The next roundabout I saw next county over was a state/county project. Much better engineered. I think they had more land but they had to come back and fix or finish something 2 months after the first attempt.

Banks, fast food and grocery stores are private enterprises that use private money and their own engineers to make drawings. I too get annoyed when I cannot use the drive through at the bank when I am in my truck.

Wait until you get to be hard of hearing, like I am, and instead of complaining about the drive through lanes, it's the blasted speaker systems that's the problem. But my solution that works for me, and should work for you, too, is to avoid those drive through lanes and go inside to conduct your business.

My dually fits in my bank drive thru without folding mirrors, but both outter rear tires are scuffed clean as they rub the curbs. If I'm off center (rarely) I'll feel the rear self center as it gets slid sideways by the curb.

My wife (5'3", petite redhead) drives our excursion daily. Is great at parking it anywhere, straight and centered. But people just watch and stare as she puts that land barge in econo car parking spots and drive thru lanes.

Are you blaming the cement curb for hitting your vehicle? That's just funny. Ignore who was operating the vehicle, who was steering it, but blame what you ran into as the problem!!!

I understand that. Third day of ownership of a 79 Eldorado and my ex tells me the chimney hit the car.

Just last week at the Indianapolis home show that is at the state Fair grounds cars were parking every other spot because they were so narrow...
And my off the wall big complaint about cashiers and especially drive through I notice more and more, that cashiers pull out the bills first, then carefully balance all the coins on top, and then you have this delicate balancing act when it goes from their hand to yours.
Years ago they handed you change and then the bills.
