Hey guys, I'm pretty rough on my cutter, but still cant explain what happened yesterday.. The cutter just stopped, PTO and gearbox looked normal, so I stopped to take a look.. When I lifted the cutter, the stump jumper and nut were laying on the ground... Long story short, the stump jumper/blade carrier hub is stripped, no splines left. Somehow this all happened at the same time.. Anyhow, I'm in search of a new one and have only been able to find a King Kutter brand. Stump Jumper, Replacement, King Kutter | Agri Supply, 39031, 40 Hp It has the same spline count and listed dimensions.. Does anyone know for sure if this will fit?? I'm doubting Howse would be willing to comment, the closest I've found on their site(no picture, not sure its the right part) is $175.Thanks for the opinions and advice..

Companies that don't make their own gearboxes often use Omni. Figure what gear ratio you need. They are readily available. Even Google shopping has some

OMNI GEAR : Rotary Cutter Geardrives, Gearboxes

Bruce

Thanks Bruce, I appreciate the input.. My gearbox is fine though.. The hub that splines to it is whats stripped.. I need the stump jumper/blade carrier..

So to assume:
>The splines and bolt treads that come out of the gearbox where the stump jumper slips on are all fine, as is the nut.
>The center hole on the stump jumper is smooth...the splines were stripped out.
>The PTO turns, the PTO shaft turns, the PTO shaft that goes into the gearbox turns, and the drive shaft that comes out of the bottom of the gearbox turns normally.

Go ahead and get the AgriSupply item. If it doesn't fit then take it back or send it back (there are 3 stores in GA). It will cost some but you may be able to find a local AgriSupply dealer or a KingKutter dealer to take a look first-hand. Also check to make sure the two blade bolts fit.

All of your assumptions are correct.. That's where I'm at now, it seems like it should be a direct fit. It's odd to me that I've only been able to find two options, both KK.. One small and one large.. Seems like a generic part.. I'll probably order it tomorrow, thanks..

I replaced the stump-jumper on my Woods mower with this one from Ebay when a replacement wasn't available from Woods:
Rotary Cutter Blade Pan Stump Jumper for 40HP Box | eBay

From the description:
"22 1/2' Diameter at widest point, 1-3/4" tall, 2-7/8 inches from bottom of pan to top of splinned hub.

Blade bolt holes are 13-1/2" apart on center and are 1-1/8" in diameter with 1/8" key-way.

Blade pans feature a heavy duty 3/4" X 3" mount welded to the 1/8" dished pan.

There is a hub welded in place with 12 tapered splines and 1-1/2" inside diameter that matches up to the output shaft of a standard 40hp gear box.

This blade pan is common from manufacturers such as King Kutter, Harp, Lowry Mfg, HawkLine, J-Bar, Modern and many more."

The gear boxes in cutters are very standardized, unless you have a real oddball the 12-spline hub is going to fit. I would say the key dimension is this:
"Blade bolt holes are 13-1/2" apart on center and are 1-1/8" in diameter with 1/8" key-way." In my research I found there was no standard, although that configuration is not uncommon.

The one drawback is this pan is not as tall as the one it replaced, so the blade rides higher and I can't cut as close to the ground as I used to.
