Help! Anyone have an HP 935C printer? If so, I am desparately seeking a copy of the software/install cd that shipped with the printer!
Mine is in a thousand pieces (more or less) and I cannot get the printer back up without the cd. HP's driver/software updates does not provide satisfaction on this one....as the USB drivers are not recognized fully, or the wrong ones.
Won't go into detail, but a copy of the cd is essential!
Thanks for reading!

Scruffy

I have heard from a few people that when installing USB stuff that you need to install the software before hooking up the USB device. They also siad that if you have a problem installing the USB device its a real pain to get it working again. I don't have USB, so I don't have any experience in that. Must be someone can shed some more light.

Glad no one got hurt by the exploding CD.

Scruffy,

Got 970Cse that any help? I did USB install for mine. Had to uninstall all 970 software first. Then Plug in printer and power computer. THEN put in CD when 98 looks for driver. After USB is installed, the rest of the software can be installed.

HP website does have the driver and utilites programs, I wound up downloading and running with the driver because it's marginally better than mine.

Let me know if I can help.

John, sent info via email...like you, I think they are the same, but some question about that being the 935 was the first one for MAC/WIN dual use. Hardware wise, they probably are the same, and I have no need for the MAC side. Thanks!

Derek, you are right about the cleaning. If any and all referances to HP are not cleaned out, you won't get the USB drivers to successfully load. There is a very 'picky' process to follow, and I've used it many times (average reloading about every three months...but lately its been about every three weeks!) No problems with it, even had documented it for others, but the quick install posters are pretty much on the money for the firsttime install. It forgets to mention that you need to clean up the registry also, but hp has a supplimental uninstall ditty that will do that for you.
The software does need to be loaded first, and you will get a prompt for the driver cd when it is completely installed and you plug the usb cable in. The problem has been in two area's , trying to get it to recognize the driver, in which winders will say it does not match the hardware (HP says it does), and convincing the load that you don't have the cd in the first place. The turkey is like a little kid throwing a temper tantrum...you convince it that you are loading from something else, and it comes back with the 'No!' business. Tired of fighting 'city hall' on this one.
Remember the days when you could run an Epson driver on darn near ANY (dot matrix anyway) printer?

JMIII, you're a Prince! Got the cd, and 5 minutes later had a pic of the lady wearing the weird hat! Just what was needed, a working printer! Hot Dang, get my CD drive replaced, and replace one 512megabyte memory module that took a hike, and I will be back in business at 100% computing capacity!
This ol' 1.33 mhz mochine just dottles along with only 640mb RAM in it. Just ain't the same as when it is running 1152MB RAM!
Don't know though, that's the second 512 MB Chip that has dumped on me...might just leave it at 640MB and concentrate on getting the new server up and running.

Yessir, UP again, and down again! Lost another memory chip, and after getting past that issue, updated an Promise ATA / Ultra driver, which promptly blew away my cd burner, and created conflicts with the Hard drive controllers! Pain in the rump getting around that one, as the burner was defunct, and not usable.
I love Winders! A barrel of tricks to get you totally irritated! Every load is something new. Well, I am back up and running, everything installed (to include printer ... again) except the scanner, and that buzzard bait can wait until next weekend.
Oh yeah, HP is sending a new DJ935MUC cd, AND a new CD-ROM drive! There turns out to be a few minor differances in the software, but the main thing is the driver works, and the software interfaces correctly for the most part. No problem working with it, but the one thing I keep trying to pound into my head is my automatic two sided print adaptor is not available right now. For some reason, it doesn't recognize it.
Could be in the install, or in the software. Who knows...ain't worrying 'bout it.
