Tractor
LS4041H
Hi, new to this site and have a question regarding hp loss due to elevation. After a lot of research on tractor choices it's either the LS3033h or R4041h. Need the tractor for snowblowing and general use. They say you lose 2% hp per 1000ft of elevation and I'm at 6000ft which =12% loss. The 3033 is rated 26 hp @ the pto- 4041 is 33 before the deduct. Every dealer/salesman has different opinions or just don't know about true hp loss. LS dealer says folks who buy the 3033 at Lake Tahoe don't notice any hp loss and recommends that one. I like the price on the smaller unit but don't want to make a mistake. Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks, Steve

In reality, most people aren't doing work where they'll see the difference, so I'm not surprised at the one dealer's statement. I would factor in the loss when pairing the tractor with implements (where you can see a difference), just to be safe. What you really don't want, is a situation where you buy an implement, and the tractor can't quite power it.

If you are concerned about the power loss, why not go up to the 3038?

Thanks for the help, I did follow manufactures specs on the snowblower he sold me at cost and decided on the r4041h because the 33hp was borderline. Did consider the 3038 but the wife gave me the nod on the bigger one. Will be delivered tomorrow and I'm stoked. Paid $20k even for it.

Sweet! That's a fair price, and a great machine. :drink:
