Anyone else pick up the HP TouchPad computer tablet yesterday? I picked one up at Staples. I am impressed with my new toy. I am using it now as I type this post.

That's a great price. I wondering if its a going out of business sale. I saw an article on the web the other day that said that HP is stopping production of all smartphones and tablet computers this fall and selling off that part of the business. They are also getting rid of their regular PC line too. Evidently, they decided that consumer computer products has too much competion, so they are going to focus on business machines and business software products only.

Yes, it is a going out of tablet business. I'd never spend $400 plus for a tablet but for $99 it is now in my price range. It is a little slow but kind of fun to use... At least for now.

I know your proud of your purchase, but i probably would have passed even at the huge discount. The touchpad wasnt a game changer (underpowered from the start) and now its an orphan. Same as i wouldt but the dog that is the Playbook.

Might be good today, but there will be next to no support in the future. I guess thats the main issue.

Good luck with your new toy.

It just goes to show that no one can compete with Apple. They are going to put them all out-of-business. Gosh I wish I had bought that stock a few years ago.:licking:

All tablets are all under powered... including apple's ipad... were not talking desktop computing here. The more I use it the better I think it is. I like the email and browser apps plus I get instant "free" access to the globe & mail, FP and I think it is compatible with all the e-books out there.. It is more convenient than my netbook. Android may be ported to it in the near future which may give it a more useful life. I bet the battery life span on all these tablets is less the 24 months. They are designed to be tossed out.
