I've purchased 4 Stihl chain saws in recent years, and I've removed the spark arrestors from the muffler in each one. If nothing else, it eliminates one more maintenance item to fiddle with.
Now with my new TG, I just pulled off the spark arrestor on the tail pipe. In my part of the world, I don't envision any fire threat. And I'm hoping leaving it off will have a positive effect on the performance, even small.
Any down side to running the TG without the arrestor? (It's got the Kawa 617cc two cylinder gas power plant).
thanks... jim

i took my spark arester out a few times and ran it for about a week or two with it out . not a whole lot of engine performance gain with it out so i put it back in.i wonder about a modified exhaust system?

I bought a new muffler fo a 5 year old gator two years ago and the spark arrestor was optional

to me the spark aresstor is good for when your pressure washin the gator . the screen acts like a water break. and it helps a little with sound too. but other than that i would run with it out.just keep it in the hood storage just in case you have to go some place with it in.
