When dealer brought my 3510 to me he had just filled it up with fuel. At 23 hrs I was down in the red on gauge.

My question is does that sound about par for the course. I usually run around 1500 to 1800 rpms doing loader stuff.

Thanks
Patrick

Howdy....If I remember correctly my unit burns a gallon an hour @ 1800 + -rpm, which is darn good for the work that I get out of it. I also use the pedal unless I have a PTO operated attachment. I have a 3520 series, and a 10 gallon tank. So if you get 23 hours from your trattor at your rpms @ a decent load (a work rate other than at idle and moving the loader up and down) you have a good machine. Of coarse each machine and operating habits are different, so I think that you are doing better than what would be expected. This was part of my research for lower operating expenses, and part of my decision in my purchase, although not many knew what the fuel consumption was. I hope this helps.

Thanks, for reply I was impressed the hrs and the work done and the fuel consumption.
What do you use yours for? I just use mine to play on around the farm clearing property and my mind

Basically, I use my machine as a hired hand. Mowing my lawn, clearing some trees, grading and plowing my drive. I do take it for a ride through the woods every once in a while, I think that it satisfies the kid in me:)

I use my 4720i for market gardening, sprayer for orchard, grading the drive way and road. I noticed that it seemed to consume more fuel than I thought it should. I talked to the dealer, he explained that after you get about 50 hours on it, your fuel economy should improve. With coop diesel running $3.47 a gallon, every gallon I can save increases my top line.

hello

just wondering how the 4720i is working for your market garden

how is the ground clearance?

what are your tasks? / attachments?

and why did you choose branson - were any others close seconds?

is it your only tractor?

how many acres under cultivation?

and where are you?

i don't mean to bombard you, i'm a few months away from a purchase and am in need of information which is applicable to my specific situation.

thanks

Let's see if I can get you some answers. I market garden 3 acres, plus 1/2 acre of peach trees. The reason I chose Branson was many, first was the price and warranty compared to others. My dealer is about 15 miles away. The Cummins diesel motor on the tractor. When you compare it to the old Yanmar 2000 I had, there is another reason. Not knocking the old Yanmar, but not being a 4-wheel drive, less HP, it just didn't get the job done. When I expanded, breaking new ground, took all day. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma, so the tractor is the right color also.lol

I use triple bottom plow, in 4-wheel drive, the tractor doesn't even grunt as I break new soil. Have a disc and spring tooth. Have a three point boom sprayer, box blade to maintain the mile of dirt road I live off of, brush hog.

I spent about 6 months looking at tractors, Kubotas, Deere, and New Holland, for the price, the Branson gave me more hp, 4-wheel drive, the 4 year warranty, and a dealer who is close and has become a good friend. I have dual remotes, which I plan to use, but currently I am not. Of course the front end loader, it has been great, for moving manure, dirt, gravel, and knocking down small trees. I don't know how I lived without one for so long.

I have the ag tires on it because my soil has a lot of sand and hills. I still have my riding lawn mower do to the ag tires, if not I would have a finish mower.

So far, all I have had is praise for the tractor, it has done things I didn't think I could do, like pulling the bottom plow without any problems.

I live outside of a small town SE of Seminole, Oklahoma, which is about 60 miles SE of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

and thank you very much for your answers.

they were quite helpful.

i have been 'sort of' looking for over a year, and seriously looking since january.

i am presently 'on the fence' regarding brand (kioti and branson) and size (30-35, 40-45).

last year i farmed 2 acres, this year 4 acres, and next year i'll split a 10 acre field (currently rented to a row-cropping neighbour) into more vegetables and some garlic, raspberries and asparagus.

my local branson dealer is happy with the cummins engines and the torque value..and could get me into a 3510i with 'bigger' ag tires.

i'll spend this summer refining my needs and getting by with what i have currently.

thanks again.

Since you are going to plan out what you might need this Summer. Let me make one recommendation. As I said the Yanmar 2000 was a very reliable tractor, just not what I needed, but what I could afford at the time. What it did teach me, to make sure and buy more than enough horsepower then you think you need. It seems when I first started looking the 3520i was the tractor the dealer pointed out to me and recommended. I explained I would like to have a little more horsepower than that and what I was going to pull behind the tractor and its use. He lead me to the 4720i. The bigger ones he had on the lot, had cabs and were just a little more than I wanted or could afford. I looked at the Kioti's, but the nearest dealer was about 100 miles away. I have three Branson dealers withing 65 miles of me.

Glad I could help. My biggest crop is sweet corn about 1 acre, followed by green beans, melons, tomatoes and strawberries.

I was filling up my tractor the other day, $3.70 per gallon for off road diesel here. I noticed as I was facing the filler neck, a decal on the gas tank that stated how long a tank full of fuel would last operating at a certain rate. You may want to take a look, wish I had a digital camera to take a pic and post it. Maybe some else on here can.
