When changing hst fluid on 2230 is it best to retract pistons on fel and bh to be able to remove all of the hst

Check your owners manual.....I don't believe that there is enough Hst. fluid residue in the loader and backhoe lines to be of any concern. The owners manual makes no mention of this and I didn't worry about it when I changed mine. Good question though.

There will still be hydraulic fluid in the cylinders even if you retract all of them, not to mention in the lines. Recommended change intervals take this into account.
