HST goes \"weeky-weeky-weeky\"

My HST on B8200 is sounding funny. It seems to work smoothly, as do all the hydraulics on the tractor.

However, as I start to move, my HST makes a sound like "weeky-weeky-weeky" It seems to be independant of rpm. It starts while pressing the HST 1/4 or more.

It does not seem to be as bad in warmer weather. I typically give the tractor 5-10 minutes of warmup time, no matter the weather.

I changed the fluids about 100 hours ago. The strainer is clean. It did do this once or twice befor I changed the fluids, at 500 hours.

Any idea's? I don't want to trash the HST...

Actually, I think I get it. Before you start looking at the HST, take a look at your rear axle hubs to see if they're loose or worn they will make funny noises that sound like major problems.

I had a similar noise on my B7300, found it was a little rubber boot on the drive shaft to the front axle, put a couple drops of oil on it and it's gone.

By chance does your B8200 have directional control valve,for the valve maybe open just a tad.

I'm not sure how to spell it, but from time to time my Kubota 2710 HST makes a noise. Sounds like its coming from the front. Its just a different whine (additional whine with a different pitch). When it starts doing it I can let off the pedal and the noise stops for a while. I've been meaning to have it checked by the dealer but the HST works fine and very smooth and I've needed the tractor for work. Since my warranty runs out in May I guess I ought to take it in.

Yes, it does. It is adjusted for operation of the loader. It is possible it may have been bumped or something. I will check it this weekend.

I had the right rear wheel off last week, but did not notice anything. I'll pull them both off this weekend and check closer.

My B7100 makes the same noise and I to thought that it may be coming from the HST. Upon further evaluation of the noise I have identified it as "axle to hub noise" as it rotates. There must be minimum wear and as the load of the tractor changes vrs. rotation of the tire the sound is created. I may try to shim mine with a piece of brass shim around the axle to keep things snug and prevent any further wear.

Boy, I'm in a strange mood today. I read your subject line, and the first thing that pops into my head is that this is a new title for a Don Ho song. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

If you haven't tracked this down yet, you may want to try and track down the frequency of the repetition to various rotating parts. In other words, is the sound going at the same RPM as the driveshaft, or is it at the same rotation as the rear wheels? Front wheels? etc.

Just a thought. High frequency noises (it sounds like this one is), are relatively directional, and should be easy to locate.
