I definitely need some help here. T233 HST

It's seems my speed range shifter has disengaged and is stuck in neutral. I was using the tractor a couple days ago and I noticed the shifter starting to get more and more play when I was shifting between low and high.

The next day I had to hold the shifter in place to keep the gears engaged.

Then it just stopped engaging the gears completely. The shifter just slides back and forth with no resistance at all. It doesn't even feel like the range fork is touching the gears at all.

How do I fix this?
Can I fix this?
Or do I need to have the tractor picked up and hauled into the dealer ($$$)???

Is it possible for the spring pin connecting the hub and hook to break?

Or is it more likely to be something like the shifter spring inside the transmission? If that were to break I should still be able to engage the gears though. I really don't want this to require opening the transmission!!

I really have to say that the service manual is not much help with this. It just says to replace or repair the shift lever. That is basically useless advice!

Can anyone please help me this? I am not a mechanic.

I don't have the answer. Just poking your thread to make it visible again.

Sounds like a linkage issue to me. I'm not familiar with your model, but can you see the lever from behind the tractor? Check where it goes through the fender from underneath. If it's attached directly to the housing, rather than using some form of mechanical linkage, it may be internal in nature. Otherwise if it appears to be rowing nothing but air, something external may have become disconnected/ snapped.

Here's to hoping it'd something simple!

Good luck,

Lunk

Success!!

So I was able to pull out the spring pin ... Sheared off. Actually I only got a couple pieces out. Part of it is still inside. I was able to put in a temporary pin so that I can get the tractor moving and back to my garage. At least there I can work on it a bit better.

Now I need to get that peace out and a new pin in.
