HST L3200 vs. L3800, $1800 more worth it?

Code54, no problem what so ever... the truth is, If I knew about the L3400 - I would have gotten that!!! ...but a little money here and there adds up, granted over the life of the tractor... $1800 isn't that much.

I grant you that the more HP you have the faster you can get stuff done... but I have the time, I just don't always have the cash :p

No, nobody has ever said I want less horsepower in the same frame, but if you don't know what your missing... I'm usually with it, I want the most HP the frame size will allow, but some times you just don't need it. When I originally bought my 3120 I was really considering getting a 25/2720 but being use to an 85HP utility tractor, I wanted something on a bigger frame. I was going to be using the tractor for remaking trails, adding some new ones and some more general use at a new cabin. I didn't need the extra power, even though if I'd gotten a 3720 I would have loved it and never could go back to the 3120, it has done everything I need. Since I have bought a lot of new land that needs to be completely redone, and thus the reason for the 110. If the extra $1800 won't gouge your pocket books, though, and you are comfortable with it, no doubt you'll feel it was worth it over time. If you can't find yourself to come up with the extra $1800, not knowing what your missing, it won't hurt you any and it will still do everything you need.

For ground engagement you're probably going to run out of traction long before you run out of HP. I agree with the PTO comments. Personally I wouldn't put a bush hog bigger than 5' on either one.

Never had too much power but I sure have been short. Get as much HP as you can get in the frame size that suits you.:D

I sorta had the same feeling you have.....the 3800 or the 3200. The dealer I bought mine from said the 3200 is their "bread-and-butter" seller. He told me I'd never be able to really tell that much of a difference. With the difference I bought a Landpride gill pulverizer and box blade and still had about $450 to boot. I good friend up the road from me has a 3400 and I have drove it and honestly I can't tell any differece . As far as a snow blower goes or a tiller, I don't have either and will not have a snow blower. (simply because I live in southern indiana) To each his own.........if you have the extra $1800 to spend go for it. As for me, I love my 3200 HST, have gotten alot of work done with it so far and have plans to continue on. Just my 2 cents worth.
