L2800
I'm new to Kubota tractors and to this site. I would welcome your thoughts on your thoughts on an HST vs Gear trans. I plan to purchase an L2800 for landscaping with a FEL, pulling downed trees, moving dirt/gravel, and general tractor stuff. I need your advice. HELP !!

Yup, here we go again. I'd go the HST based on what I have learned from a side by side comparison.

23.5pto/hp OR 25pto/hp. Take your pick.

I'll take the 25pto/hp.

I guess that makes me different. And, I didn't give the OP any flack, either.:D

As far as your uses go, it might point to HST but, you really should sit on and run the machine and decide for yourself. Drive a gear shift and drive an HST. Try to get to know it before you buy it.

Hopefully others will chime in.

Also, there may be incentives to buy the L2800. I believe it being replaced by an L3200. New in 2011 or I may stand corrected. They tweaked the engine to get the horsepower for a new model.

...23.5pto/hp OR 25pto/hp...
Is there a noticeable difference? I run a 5 foot shredder with 23.5pto/hp will the 1.5 hp do that much more?? I can do a "U" turn in nothing flat... granted I do drive around just for the fun of it... :D

It does wear me out shifting gears at work... when I get a gear tractor. You'll know it at the end of the day if you been shifting or not.

Also, delaying your purchase might save you some $$$... think incentives...

James....No offense here...don't quite understand this post.??

Well the post is mostly a joke, but if you go to the link and read that entire thread, several of the Gear tractor owners are pointing out that they do not like the fact that sometimes you cannot find a speed in one range that is fast enough for the job, and the next range does not have a gear that is slow enough.. with the HST there is no problem finding the exact ground speed you need while running the throttle at the exact implement speed you need. Also one of the gear tractor owners pointed out that they need to stop talking about this because some HST owner is gonna read the post and use it for ammunition in the next Gear VS HST thread. Far be if for me to do a thing like that:laughing:

Welcome to TBN TK. ;)
If you don't mind shifting/clutching plus save $$$'s..gear.

I purchase L2800HST mostly because of fel and rear blade use, plus like it even more now when rear hogging.

Same say the type of tires make different on L2800,I went w/R4's and no problems.

Oh, I get it. And a good point to make, too.

This will be my first year with a rear snowblower and I wonder how my gears will effect the process. Hopefully I won't be on the clutch too much.

We shall see...
