What technique do you all use with the HST pedal? It's too long to just rock my foot back (reverse) and forth (forward). I have to actually lift my foot to step on the rear of the pedal to go into reverse.

Mike, I believe they're all that way; not intended to be a rocker type, even though the pedal design is slightly different on different tractors. I just rest my heel on the floor and toe on the forward pedal, or toe on the floor and heel on the reverse pedal.

The HST Pedals on the larger (35 40 45D) are ssooooo much eaiser to use than the rocker style. That's one reason I bought the New Holland over Kubota. The test drive was enough to know it was harder to get the feel of.

I just bought a TC40D and was surprised to find the dual HST petal. I did'nt even notice the differance when I was shopping...or they just change it inbetween shopping and delivery.
I rented Kubota's and a TC33 both with the rocker. It took a little to get used to but it was my first time even on a tractor. I also rented a geared tractor that was a nightmare for my application of close quarters going forward and reverse.
While I like the dual petal system better, sometimes I have pushed the wrong one...no disasters yet. I dont think I had that problem with the rocker system.
