Hello everyone. I am now cosidering a hst tc40d and was wondering if the aprox. 2hp loss (PTo) with the hst model compared to the gear is significant? Will I notice it when pulling or maybe going up hill or something. I know there is the big hydro vs gear debates, but I am just wondering about the power end of it. Thanks, Griz.

I really doubt if anyone here could tell the difference of 2HP unless they had a dyno meter. If you like the comfort of the Hydro and don't mind paying the extra bucks I would not let the 2HP be a factor in your decision. You will pay more for the Hydro but in the long run you will like it especially if your doing lots of loader work and mowing around things.

Just my opinion.

I second what murph said. In fact, I had my TC40D dyno'd before I bought it and it was documented to be 38hp at the PTO, which is MUCH more than specs call for. I don't know if that was for mine or if NH's spec sheets are written conservatively. All I know is that I have yet to run out of power for anything....
