I just bought a 4600 and the reverse pedal seems too low. The tractor just moves when using the pedal and it feels like it is to the floor. Is there a quick way to adjust the pedal up? Forward works great...plenty of power. Thanks in advance.

I don't know the answer but will be curious to discover. What I do know is that neither pedals are an accelerator rather is an activator. In other words doesn't act like an gas pedal on a vehicle. Sounds like something isn't functioning properly not related to adjustment as you may be thinking. Again, I don't know for sure so I will stand back for the real answer.

Your question will require some homework. The '00 series have direct linkage controls for the HST transmission. The newer generation of HST machines are electronically controlled - eHydro. Do you have either a 1.) Technical Repair manual or 2.) Part manual?

The 4600 will be somewhere between 10 and 14 years old, so I'm pretty sure we're not talking eHydro. I have the HST on a smaller JD, and had to buy an odd-sized metric impact socket for the job. It was of a size you don't typically find in a standard metric set, 14mm I think. Anyway, it was needed to break free the hex head that holds the reverse pedal in position. I'm guessing they used some kind of thread lock on it. Once it was free, repositioning was simple. I didn't reapply and thread lock, and it's still holding position after 3 years.

Here are some pics of my setup. The first pic shows the pedal. It hits the floor pretty quick...

Well, not much can be concluded from the photos at this point. You have to determine if the angle of error is at the transmission end or at the pedal end. What happens when you reach down and pull up on the pedal?

Bogaat,

I just joined this forum and saw your post from a few months back. I recently rebuilt my HST foot control module and had to adjust it afterwards...so if you haven't fixed this yet, let me know and I can show you the way.
