Local hardware store guy recommended HTS2000 for aluminum and copper repair. Anyone have experience with this stuff?

I've seen products like that demoed at Home Shows and Tool Shows. Don't know if it's the same or similar. They always made it look easy, but I've not bought yet.

Same here...tho, in this case, the feedback and user list would seem to indicate it to be a good product.

Yup, I watched a guy work magic with the stuff at a show. I bought some and can't do squat with it. Well, I can seem to get it to work, but not nearly as well as the demo guy. He must have hundreds and hundreds of hours practice.

I'd use it as an alternative to buying a TIG machine or an expensive spool gun for a MIG for small projects or repairs. I even used a slightly different stuff for fixing pot metal pieces for collector cars. I'd rate it above using JB Weld for sure.

Overall, I guess I'd say it's really not bad I suppose. Just make sure that you practice for an hour or two on scrap before trying to work on something of value. If you get that "touch", it's probably pretty darn good.

exactly why I'm considering it; thx for response

personally, i wouldn't trust it. the sight goes on and on about how great it is, not much about how it actually works. as a professional welder, i see salesmen with these "wonder rods" all the time... a pure waste of $$ IMHO.

it may work. but i'd be very warry of it myself.

Laughin @ The Bull,

I remember years back at the local carinavel, a little gal sitting all day "welding" up holes in alum. cans with a wonder rod.
I bought some from the guy, off the fair grounds and by golly it worked.
But I never did get any calls to "weld up" aluminum cans.
