Hurricane Michael cleanup video

Tour of our current project, 7 acres of Hurricane Michael Cleanup around the small lake. Hubby is bush hogging in the video with Land Pride 8 foot and his Kubota M7060 (we call it our Beast). I worked this area with the Kubota L4060 and WR Long Grapple as well as a Woods Landscape Rake.

I see you are about 40 mi from the gulf. I was a little surprised you had as much damage there, since I remembered the storm being more to the west. Looks pretty good after all of your work.

Your place is looking good. I need a backhoe to dig about 30 - 40 stumps out. I tried a stump grinder but it wouldnt go deep enough.

We are actually about 70 miles from the gulf. We don't have beaches and tourism here so we are largely ignored by the media. We got hit by Cat 4 strength Michael and the eye went directly over us so it was full force. I am 4th generation Jackson County and I have never seen this type of damage or ever heard of it. We usually get a few trees down, maybe the electricity out for 2 or 3 days. This really shocked everyone.

The rural counties in the path of Hurricane Michael are just forgotten. So we just trudge along recovering as best we can.

Thank you!!! I have a GoPro Hero Black 5 with a Karma stabilizer grip. I plan to upgrade to a GoPro 7 soon. The best video system I have ever had. GoPro7 will be even better. Just a ton of fun!

Thank you!!! I have a GoPro Hero Black 5 with a Karma stabilizer grip. I plan to upgrade to a GoPro 7 soon. The best video system I have ever had. GoPro7 will be even better. Just a ton of fun!

The GoPro 7 sounds like it is going to be a beauty. I just have some SJ Cams (similar to gopro) and a Firefly Q6 I fit on my quadcopters.
I promised myself a GP7 when I sell the farm in a couple of years. (might be a GP8 by then. LOL )
Promising myself lotsa things hehe.
OK on the Karma Stabiliser. I will look it up. I do have a 3 axis stab (Feiyu Tech) that I fit on my quads sometimes. It makes a heck of a difference.

We waited until we retired to get Goldens, they are our Service Dogs. That said, I did a LOT of research and discovered that the health issues with Goldens is mostly an American Golden issue. There is a lot of inline breeding and other issues that cause American Goldens to have major health issues.

Goldens in European countries etc... have 30% less health issues. So, I searched for a breeder who understood that. It took a long time to find the RIGHT breeder but we did find one in Atlanta GA area.

Rebel, my Goldie, has an American mother and his father is from the Ukraine and was imported to America.

Bradley, my hubbies Goldie... named after the USS Robert G Bradley, has a mother from Ukraine and father from Serbia. Both of his parents were imported.

We got all of their pedigrees and health for many generations. I feel confident we did everything we could up front.

We also do not neuter but if we did it would be after 2 years old. Goldies need the hormones to help their hips finish growing. It greatly reduces the chance of hip dysplasia.

And for further protection, we have both pups insured with Healthy Paws.

If you need any help, I would be happy to help you sort thru all of that stuff. I LOVE Goldies, they are the bestest!!! Just avoid back yard breeders at all cost!

Thank you so much for your information. I hope your pups have a long and good life. It is painful to lose your best friends, which Goldens usually are. I would love to see the breed have a resurgence of healthy dogs. Unfortunately, there is money to be made and people will almost always cut corners.

I am on a disaster relief team and although we didn't get "too rural"..., we did make it to Mariana, Greensboro, Quincy. Our team came from my local church here in Jacksonville. I burned up all my vacation time last year playing in your neck of the woods.
For those who have never seen what a 3, 4 or 5 hurricane can do compared to a tornado, just take the tornado, widen it's path about 100 miles and then dowse everything with anywhere from several inches to a foot or more of water. It is really more than most people can fathom until they have seen it up close.
One of the teams out of Texas was based at the Baptist Camp not too far from you. On my second trip we went there, and then down into Panama City, by way of Lynn Haven. I have delivered to that area a lot in my trucking career, and even I was amazed at the amount of widespread damage. It appeared to be even more widespread than Hugo (Charleston) or Andrew (Miami) from my observations.
Your cleanup looks great, I know it was a lot of work!

I am on a disaster relief team and although we didn't get "too rural"..., we did make it to Mariana, Greensboro, Quincy. Our team came from my local church here in Jacksonville. I burned up all my vacation time last year playing in your neck of the woods.

Oooooh thank you David! Yes, the churches did an amazing job helping our community and frankly everyone in the path of the storm. We didn't see the volunteers but heard about them a lot. We were digging out folks for many months so didn't get out much. We dug out 16 addresses including our own.

Hubby said he sold you a bush hog many years ago and you came to our house to pick it up. PSDStu is my hubby.

You are absolutely correct on the devastation. Hubby lived in Charleston for Hugo and said the same as you did. The Navy sortee'd for Hugo and he returned 3 days later to see the damage. He was spared significant damage from Hugo and he lived on the Ashley River... The same can't be said for Michael.

I have been running regional and for the last four just teaching. I am fixing to go back on the road for a little while, till I get tired of it again. Probably regional...
The M7060 looks like it is doing a fine job with the mowing. I have a M7040 and it mows like a champ. I finally upgraded from that 1989 JD2555 that I have to something with 4wd. Makes a huge difference.

Actually that was my SIL who used to drive for Werner.... he left there and went to North Dakota and made a ton of money hauling fracking stuff for Haliburton. He is now back in Indiana with our daughter and grandchildren and is soon going to be back over the road with a dedicated run I think for USA trucking. Glad you like your 7040... I really like the 7060!

Actually that was my SIL who used to drive for Werner.... he left there and went to North Dakota and made a ton of money hauling fracking stuff for Haliburton. He is now back in Indiana with our daughter and grandchildren and is soon going to be back over the road with a dedicated run I think for USA trucking. Glad you like your 7040... I really like the 7060!
