Huskey riding mower - good, bad....

Need to get a new mower and the TSC Huskey mowers seem to have the features we want. Any comments on how they hold up or what they cut to sell at TSC specials. Understand they are made by MTD, do they compare to any current MTD models. Any comments welcome...

It depends on what you're going to do with it. How big is your yard, and are you just going to mow with it? I've recently been looking into a new mower, but bought a used Deere 214 instead. Huskey's were one that I was considering. I went to my local TSC and checked them out. I wasn't overly impressed with the quality, but for the money they would mow fine. If you take care of them well, you should get your moneys worth. But I had decided to go with a Craftsman for not much difference in price, and they seemed, to me anyway, to be built a little better. If I hadn't found the used Deere, I'd have a new DYT4000 or a DLT3000 now. Check on servicing available for whatever you get. Go sit on them and have some fun. I bought the 23HP 48" Husky last summer when the engine on the TroyBilt siezed. Paid $1500. The husky is easy to use and has all the needed safety features for my wife to be able to use. Cuts pretty good and for what I need, does a good job. It's primary use is around the outbuildings and trees where the Kubota can't get. About 1 or 2 hours cutting time per week.

I have a 18.5 H.P. 46" cut huskey. Had it bout 6 yrs. now only rider i ever had its been great so far . Hydro tranny works like a champ every time. When I replace this one Im going with a 2 bladed deck . Dont need a real big mower since the 4200 moved in to do the heavy chores.Clean Air filter and clean oil help em all last .

They are made by MTD, we sell TSC several other items and I have been to several shows with them. They are in the same league as Murray. And will do you a great job if you take care of them and do not abuse them. A man that works for me, bought the largest one they had with a hydro. He has had it about 5 years and has had very little problems.
