Good lord, I just looked up the specs on that saw! I wasn't familiar with it, but it looks as if that will be one serious, screaming machine. I bet it is going to cut like nobody's business.
That saw is comparable to the Stihl MS460, which is the size saw that I was just telling a friend of mine would be what I would have if I could have just one saw for the rest of my life.
Your saw is 73.5 cc with 5.4 HP and the 460 is 76.5 cc, 6.03 HP. While the Stihl squeezes out a little more hp per cc, your saw is specifically designed for torque. I have a feeling it will out-cut the more "powerful" 460, and this is coming from a Stihl guy. I generally prefer Stihls overall, but have a warm spot in my heart for the kind of raw power and "hot rod" performance of Husqvarnas. Certain Husky models are particular favorites of mine, including the discontinued 242XP, the 346XP, the 357XP, and now, the 575XP. That thing just seems like an instant "classic" to me. I'd love to hear a "field report" on how that thing cuts, you must be loving it.
Of course, just like good pitching beats good hitting, a dull or poorly sharpened chain will make the best saw perform like crap. Feel free to message me for pointers, and/or check out the sharpening tips I posted in "Starting a Stihl chain saw". If you think your saw is cutting well now ......
Hey, I read your bio, and please be careful with that thing. Just because you're an ER doc, no need to put your skills to use. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif We won't mention your other "hat".
Lastly, I was surprised to learn that one of your interests is hockey. I didn't know Canadians liked hockey, but live and learn I guess. hehe
Anyway, nice Christmas present! You've got me itching to get my hands on one of those things, and since some jerk stole my Stihl 460, I just might try one, just for fun.
Take care, John
