Working on a friend's rider. Every time I step on the brake, the drive belt drops off the pulleys. Adjusted belt to slightly tighter than spec. Belt stays on (barely) but brake throw is way too short. But if parking brake is engaged with engine running, belt drops anyway! Thought, suggestions - PLEASE!!

Something is bent or shifted in the system. Or something like a tensioner is not adjusted properly. Look for scrape marks where an idler post or pulley may have come loose and shifted. You may have been given the wrong belt even. Worn pulley on the engine or at the other end.
