Anybody ever run Husky XP mix oil in a Stihl 4mix?

I have a few litres of the Husky XP that I run in my saws (all husky) at 50:1. I SHOULD be ok running this in my new Stihl 130r Kombi.

The stihl manual says :Use only STIHL two-stroke engine oil or
equivalent high-quality two-stroke air-
cooled engine oils for mixing.

The Husky XP should meet the "equivalent" standard, its semi-synthetic so it should at least be better than the base Stihl dino oil, but may not be as good as the 100% synthetic Stihl Ultra. I cant find any official ratings on the web for either the XP or Stihls.

My only concern is fouling the 4mix as I understand they can build carbon pretty bad if inferior oil is used. On my Huskys, XP oil has never let me down however. I know its a good oil.

Id like to only have a single jug of mixed fuel going for all my "2 stroke" equipment so as to keep it fresh.

Opinions?

I think Stihl prefers that you use the HP ultra full synthetic in the 4 mix engines. I don't know if it is true but I read somewhere the other night the hp ultra is 90w but has additives so it will pour.

Thanks, checked out the site.

Couldnt find anything that directly answered my question. One guy was using the Xp oil in Stihls, because like me he has a bunch of it around. Nobody commented he was making a mistake however.

Just bought a stihl 4mix trimmer and the dealer recommended i buy the stihl oil to extend the warranty. I did but i told him that i was using echo powerblend currently and wanted to use it up and he said that it was good oil and it would be no problem to use it. It is semi-synthetic if you we're curious.

Went to the dealer today to buy some still ultra oil.

Dealer doesn't even stock it, and if I wanted it I'd have to buy a case of 48 / 200 ml bottles for approx $250!!! Yeah right! So I bought a liter of the Stihl "premium" oil ( white bottle, orange top) which I think is 100% Dino, for $7.50 just to have it. Whatever it is,it's made by castrol.

I asked about the husky Xp and warranty, and was told that any premium brand of low ash oil is fine. I may mix up some Stihl oil just for breakin, but I think I'll be using the xp oil at least until my stash is gone. i think a semi-senthitic like the xp would be better than the dino stihl. When its all gone,I might check neighboring dealers for the ultra in liter jugs because from what I read it is a great oil overall ( and smells nice too)!

That Husky Xp oil is good stuff. I use it for all my engines that run the 50:1 mix. Never had a drop of trouble, you should be fine with it.

I did a bit of checking online. It appears that we can only get the Ultra in 200ml bottles up here. Its not just my dealer that doesnt have it, many posts by other canadians say the same.

Our oils are different then what you guys in the states get, from what Ive been reading. Our standard oil is labeled as "Stihl Premium" and shows as being packaged by Castrol, right on the label. The Ultra, im not sure of because basically nobody here seems to have used it or even asked for it from what Ive been reading.

From a post on Arboristsite:

"So after a few calls to local dealers. I had a dealer call the Stihl office in Ontario to get clarification about Stihl Ultra in Canada and getting me some.

Verdict: 200ml bottles only available, $4.95CDN each.

This was the biggest dealer in a city of 1 million people and I'm only the second person to ever request Stihl Ultra. I suggested he order some in and see if people pick up on it.

So I'm gonna order me a few bottles and let er rip.

Can't believe how scarce Stihl HP ultra is here. "
