Last summer we purchased a Husqvarna CT-20 small rototiller so that I could help my husband cultivate the garden. (I could not handle his large Sears Craftsman rototiller)
I used it for about 20 minutes the first week and then went to use it again a few days later. The recoil was frozen and wouldn't pull. We took it back to the supplier and then it worked. Used it again for about two - three hours and it worked fine. When we took it out to use it this year, the same problem - frozen - recoil would not pull. Took it back to the supplier and they said the engine was fried and the tiller was no good... That they would dispose of it.
I can't believe that it would be ruined with less than five hours use!
It has a Tecumseh 2 cycle engine. I brought it home because I couldn't bear to just throw it away. Has anyone encountered this problem....can it be repaired?

What kind of oil did you mix? How old was the mix? Take the muffler off and you can look directly at the piston. Nice and clean, nothing is wrong but if you see scoring or grooves in the direction the piston travels, yep it's toast. That engine is very much like a chainsaw or weedeater engine.

You did mix 2 cycle oil with the gas at the recommended ratio, right? You didn't run straight gasoline in it?
