Hyd Cylinder keeps squirting oil out bolt head when in lift

i have a hyd cyl that lifts/lowers the wheels on a shredder. It only has one hose coming off it. When activate lift, hyd oil squirts from bolt head in the other cylinder port. Should I attach another hose or us other plug?

The end should have a vent there. Oil coming out there is telling you the seals are bad on the cyl.

Thank you sir.. Is this cylinder pretty easy to rebuild? Basic tools. Decent mech knowledge.. Handy with you-tube research.. lol..

Those bolted together cylinders are very easy to rebuild if you can match the seals. You might want to get a price at a local hydraulic shop, you might find it pretty reasonable. Replacements aren't that expensive either...

Ok.. Thanks for the help.. Seems like TSC has cylinders in that size for $150 or less. I'll have to yank it off next time i'm out there and bring it into town..

Is it bad to operate the cylinder in its present condition?

I would install either a vent in the rod end port or connect it back to your tractor via a second hose. Running it like you are could potentially blow the rod end seal completely out due the the pressure intensification caused by the difference in area from the rod to the cap end.

Ditto on cyl piston seals leaking. I'll bet you can buy a new cylinder for nearly as cheap as the seal kit. I know I bought a new 2X10 cylinder that was as cheap as rebuilding old cyl.
