Tractor
ford 1710
I have both a repair manual and a parts manual for my model 1710 Ford Tractor 1986. There is no information about changing the hydraulic oil filter. Looking at the old filter on the tractor, it is not a spin-on, but rather has an outside canister with a nut in the center bottom. It appears that the actual filter may be inside the canister. Can anyone shed some light on how I can change this filter, and where I can buy one? Can I change the filter without changing out all the hydraulic fluiid? Thank you.

My car has the same kind of filter setup, when you take the nut off there is a bare filter element inside that looks like a big fuel filter. Can't help you on where to buy one, I'd do some googling.

When I change the filter on my tractor I attach a shop vac to the fill port and turn it on when I'm ready to take the filter off. That pretty much reduces the loss to almost nothing.

Thanks Beezfun. I’ll give that a try as soon as I can find one.

9846407 is the part number for your hydraulic filter. It is a spin on filter; yours happens to have a nut formed on the bottom.
