I have less than 50 hrs(3yrs old) on my Dk-50 & my worst leak is the front left steering hydraulic tube, drip drip drip. A few drips are coming from the gear linkage too but not as bad as the front arm. When it's trailered the leaks look bad on the steel floor. Any clues for a fix on these? I know it is some sort of seal problem but didn't think it should be bad @ 50 hrs. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It may be as simple as tightening just a little to stop the leak. Some of the fittings have O rings in them, look to see if you see rubber smashing out around at the fitting, if so, replace the O rings and don't tighten them down too tight.

The vibration of a working tractor can loosen the fittings and this will happen at intervals as you use the tractor. Most of the time it's just a matter of a few turns. You don't want to tighten any of them more than you need to stop the leaks.

If it looks as though the O rings are smashing out too far, then get your dealer to fix it under warranty as they were tightened too tight to begin with.

Make sure, if you're tightening them yourself, to pay attention to the way they are configured. In some cases you need one wrench to hold a nut while you turn another in the opposite direction.

John this leak is from the main tube end area & not the input fitting itself. I didn't see any adjustments one could do to the steering tubes themselves. Now I didn't take the cylinder tube off yet but made a visual inspection. I'd say the leak is getting by the seals.

Has the rod been bent or nicked? It sounds like you are describing a leaky hyraulic packing.

No nicks or rusting on the chrome shaft as far as I could see. Very suspicious of internal seals since both tubes are leaking but left one is the worst. This leak has not just appeared either, I've tollerated it for a yr. or more. I am loosing about 1 qrt of fluid a yr.I'd guess /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
