As often reported by newbies, hooking up the FEL can be a problem if there is pressure in either side of the hookup.

I thought that I had this down by simply pushing a steel dowel into both sides of the hook up to relieve the pressure. Well, today the ambient temperature is hitting about 90deg F and I had been mowing prior to the attempt to remount the FEL.

Thus I needed to hit the dowel with a hammer to relieve the pressure. Hopes this helps someone. Guess, after seven years of Kubota ownership, I'm still a newbie.

Just a thought when I remove any piece of equipment that has hydraulic lines I shut down the tractor before disconnecting the lines and moving the valve in all positions to relieve pressure. Has always worked for me.

That works most of the time, but often an increase in temperature the fluid will expand in the implement and QD's won't connect.

Kenny, I know you have more experience with hydraulic systems than I do I guess I've been lucky as I've never had it happen to me even in the Texas heat.

If the cylinders are left in the mid range of their stroke instead of fully extended does it help any? I've only removed my FEL about twice in ten years, but constantly connect things to my power beyond and always leave things such as my wood splitter, back hoe, etc at mid stroke for this reason. I also get into the habit of taping the poppet ball against something as well....

I guess that's the (miracle) of hydraulics. The same thing that can lift a thousand pounds, is the same thing that can really close up the hose connections when the heat variables take place. So my old body can not just push in on the pins as usually is the case......I needed an assist with a hammer stroke on the dowel.

Just take a wrench and loosen one of the lines and let the pressure off, catch the oil with a pan

That would do it also...........Thanks, Oscar. The fluid really squirts out when under that kind of pressure.
