Hydraulic control valve help....

Can anyone tell me the specific differences between a 2 way and a 4 way control valve assy? My Kubota loader has a 2085 valve assy. on it, which I'm told is a 2 way valve. I'm in the process of building my ft. snow blade setup, very similar to what botaman2 has shown in another post ( under customization); his control valve is a 2207 which I've been told is a 4 way valve. My problem, I don't know how that difference will affect the operation of the hydraulics, 2 single acting angle cylinders and 1 double acting lift/ down pressure cylinder with float. My local Kubota dealer isn't sure how it would be different as it isn't a "factory" set up, but has stated that there is a "regenerative valve assy", for $64.00, that can be added to my control valve to "maybe" make it act as a 4way valve- but they aren't sure about that. I guess it all comes down to the fact that I need power up, down and angle capabilities with float for plowing, will the valve I have do the job as is, could it be modified, or will I have to buy a new, complete control valve to replace the one I now have? IF that was the case, the Kubota factory valve assy. is approximately $380, would that be available as an aftermarket unit from someone else (Read " cheaper" /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif)? The difference between a 3 and 4 way/position valves has been discussed a number of times here on TBN. It has to do with the regeneration circuit that is used. Do a search and you will find them.

You most likely have a 3-way valve.

Mad, thanks for the links, they do help " a little". I hope that Kubmech will chime in here again, I wonder if the regen. valve kit that my Kubota dealer mentioned can be retrofitted to my valve so that I have the extra function? It would be nice to spend $60 and not $ 380 for a new valve. Thanks again...

I don't believe that there is a conversion kit. The $60 is the difference in cost between the two valves. Now if you could get your dealer to exchange your 3-way for a new or used 4-way for $60 then go for it.

I was at the Kubota dealer Saturday morning and he showed me a kit that was listed on the computer as a "regenerative valve" assy. He had the kit in stock, it consisted of a spring, a small aluminum housing to contain the spring, some o-rings, small machine bolts and and (I think) some shims. Now he believes, maybe erroneously, that it may be what I need to add the extra function to my valve- BUT, after reading the links you supplied, it appears that may just be the std. kit to rebuild that regen. circuit that mine already has, not a kit to modify and add an extra function /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. You are right, though, maybe I can source a used one from them( not likely) or I'll just have to buy a new one. I haven't found a source other than Kubota to buy one, it is a Husco, who sells these at retail, or cheaper /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif?

The Kubota valves that Husco makes are proprietary to Kubota. Husco will not even give info on them from their help desk. The only source for them is from Kubota.

WRLong has a valve kit add on to a FEL that can be used to cycle a cyclinder(s) open and closed. It works on grapples, 4n1buckets, and snow plows. www.wrlonginc.com
