I'm looking for a plate (cover) for a '55 960 Ford row crop.I'm not at all sure that is the proper name for this piece, but it's located just below the driver's pan(seat) on the top right side of the case, just above the draft control lever. There is a leaky hydraulic valve in that position now, but in looking at the operator's manual, there was a flat plate with a boss/plug shown in this location as the tractor came from the manufacturer. Any help in locating this piece of hardware would be greatly appreciated. Info can be e-mailed to me or PM'ed on this site:cool:

Look at the picture I posted. Is part #16 what you are looking for..?? There are a few used ones available out there. They look to run about $35.00 plus shipping.

You can enter the part number in a search engine ( I use Google a lot), and find several.
If this is the part you are looking for, the part number is NCA475E. If you ever want to do a part # search, find the part number like I posted. Put your cursor (pointer on the screen) at one end of the number. (Left to right, or right to left, it doesn't matter) Hold the left button down on your mouse. Scroll across the number, it should turn blue. Let off the left buton on the mouse.

Then put your cursor (pointer) on the object in blue. Click the right button. A small menu should appear. Click the left button, and select "copy".

Go to a search engine, and in the search window, put your cursor in the space where you type what you are loking for. Right click, and a menu should appear. Select "paste", and your part number should appear in that space. Hit the search, and hopefully you will find pages/ sites, associated with that part # Just be sure not to include any periods, like above...

Or... You can just type in the part # in the search engine. Copying and pasting are a lot faster, once you get the hang of it.

I did a search on tractorhouse, and there is a fellow on there that has 2 in stock. The link is below. They have a parts search in the left menu. Bring up that page, and type in your part #. I didn't look to see if he had a price. You may have to call for a price.

Used Tractors at TractorHouse.com: John Deere Tractors, used farm tractors and farm equipment, Case IH, New Holland, Agco, Caterpillar.

By the way, if there are ever any parts you are looking for, for your Ford tractor, open this link to Ford New Holland.

New Holland - After sales service: assistance, original spare parts, manuals

I saved you, or others interested a couple pages to go through, to get to this point.

Scroll down to where it says "New Holland Parts" At the bottom of that paragraph, click on "New Holland Parts Search"

A new window will appear. Type your particular tractor model number in the space at the top left. Then click on "search". You'll then have to scroll down through the list that appears, and find your particular model you are looking for. Anything Ford made with a "960" in it's ID number will appear...

Your 960 was easy, it was only 12th from the top in the list... LOL..

You'll then see a list of items by catagory... Engine , Hydraulics etc. Click on what you are looking for, and a exploded view will appear, like I posted above. Below that will be the list of part names, and part numbers.

Hope this helped, without being too confusing...!!

DJ54; Many, many thanks for your assistance with my search. I'm barely computer literate( I can turn it on) and had no luck locating the piece, which incidently is #16. I've printed and filed your response for future reference. Thanks to folks like you, folks like me can almost function normally:eek:;):)

You're surely welcome..!!

We all have to learn sometime... I probably don't use 1/100th of the capability of what this 'puter will do... If it's not looking for tractor/farm items on the internet, saving pictures, and "stuff", then I probably don't use it. LOL..

Just so much info out there if you look..., or learn how to.

One neat thing about the Ford/New Holland site, you can search by part #, and it will show what all models it was used on. Great if you're looking for used parts. Unfortunately, the plate you are looking for, only fits the 960.

I like John Deere's site, because it shows the price of a part. But you have to be a registered user. No big deal. Just remember your ID, and password. It will supposedly even tell you if your local dealer has it in stock, and how many. I don't kow if they have to update their stock manually, or if it does it automatically... I would hope, and think the latter.

Just wish JD and Case/IH had the same feature on the part # search, and what all it fit..
