We recently replaced some seals on a few leaky cylinders on our case 580 ck b series. Among the cylinders repaired were both of the boom cylinders. Both of these cylinders leaked pretty bad. After the job was done we tested all of the hydraulics out and made sure everything worked well and had no leaks. To our dismay the bucket cylinder has one drip. We operated all of the hydraulics again and left it for the night. A few days later we took the machine out back for a work out. The drip on the bucket cylinder had stopped, I chalked it up to a twisted o-ring that may have righted itself. The boom cylinders and a stabilizer cylinder that we had done were all dry and working great. After a few hour battle with a huge maple stump, I noticed a slight stream of hydraulic oil coming from both boom cylinders. I checked all of the cylinders that i worked on, and the bucket and stabilizer were both dry. After I was done with the machine for the day, i wiped everything dry, and shook the controls to expend any residual energy in the hydraulic lines. I checked it after an hour, and had a drop of oil on each boom cylinder. that night i tested everything again, thinking some dirt may have gotten stuck in the sweeps, and after the next morning i had no leaks...12 hours clean and dry...i just checked the machine when i got home from work 12 hours later, and one boom cylinder is dry, and the other has a slight stream of oil coming down the cylinder. What could be causing this intermitant leaking? Should I take apart the cylinders again and look for something i did wrong? I see no obvious blemishes on the cylinders themselves that would cause the new sweeps to be cut, and I used a scotch brite pad with hydraulic oil to smooth them out when i did the seal job. Any advise would be appreciated.:confused2:
