Anybody know of a place where I can get cheap good quality hydraulic cylinders? Ones with available replacement parts would be great as well.

I plan to build a backhoe for my TC25D and I am in the information gathering stage right now. I have checked the web for plans, but I am not very impressed with what I found; mostly tow behind models (or 3-pt hitch models) that don't look very rugged and dont' offer the capability of the factory models. Any thoughts or feedback here would be appreciated as well.

I don't know if I should run off of the tractor hydraulics or if I should buy a pump and attach it to the rear pto. Any thoughts? I guess there are pros and cons to each, right? Does anybody know how and where to hook up such an implement to the tractor hydraulics?

I actually planned on going to my local dealer one day after hours and measuring the factory hoes to make my own set of rough plans. That way, all of the angles, distances, and engineering have been done for me already.

Thanks.

I would pick out the model hoe I want to copy and order the manual from New Holland or whoever else makes the hoe you want. all the manuals I've seen show exploded parts diagrams.. just enlarge then on a copier or computer scanner. They also have full hookup instructions. I've had 4 small tractor backhoes. The first 3 ran off tractor hydraulics and the last one a Woods 1050 runs off it's own pump. If I were building one, I'd run it off tractor hydraulics. If you run of PTO pump, you need a pump, a reservoir, filters and a bunch of lines. The only rason I'd run off of PTO pump would be if tractor hydraulics didn't offer enough gpm for me. The PTO pump is neater, you don't drip hydraulic fluid each time you disconnect. The tractor hydraulics on my TN are 16.9 gpm and the PTO pump I think is abot 11 gpm. I only run the PTO at betwen 250 and 300 rpm when using the backhoe so I'm runnin gno where near rated gpm.
There are also several manufactures that have their manuals available online. good luck with your project. Keep us posted.

Try Bailey they have all types of Ag hydro cylinders. I use them and they are OK, They also have some USA made ones as well but they are big bucks. You can mail order them too!

Hope this helps

Hi,
Don't remember which is pressure and which is return. But one line connects up on the manifold where the FEL connections are (I have to disconnect the hose that's usually in this place.) And the other connects up under the seat on the right hand side (believe this is pressure.) I'll try to get pictures if I have time. Heading to Mexico for a week for GM tomorrow.

I was at Northern in Columbia, S.C. over Thanksgiving. I couldn't believe how much hydraulic stuff they had in the store.
