Tractor
century-2035
The front loader on my Century 2535 failed to operate yesterday. At the same time, the the rear lift also failed to operate.
I checked the fluid and it was ok.

I had not used the tractor for about two weeks.

Any ideas how to activate this joy stick?

My dealer went belly up. The nearest dealer is miles away from me.
I live in Walnut Cove, nc. This is about half way between Greensboro and Winston Salem , NC.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I am not a mechanic. I have been unable to get a copy of the manuel 948882.

2002 with 391 hrs.

Pump failure, filter restriction? Is there a whining noise like that of a power steering pump with no fluid? Has the tractor had its 50 hour service. I've heard that the screen in the sump can have a substantial restriction due to metal shavings. I UNDERSTAND that two screens exist in addition to the spin-on filter, one in the sump of the trans-axle, and one just prior to the inlet of the pump. The joystick operation is all mechanical and if the knob under your seat is turned to "fast" you are probably not getting any fluid movement.

Today I will replace the spin on filter. The fluid has less than 30 hours on it. Can I remove and clean the sump filter with our the oil running out of the entire system?
thanks

No. Go to the store and buy 3 cheap 5 gal gas cans.

Just a thought, are there quick connect couplers to feed the loader valve? Make sure they're hooked up.

yes, everything is connected. I did add a gallon of fluid. A Branson dealer in Greensboro has a new filter for me and i will get that monday just to be sure the one on the tractor is not stopped up. I want to learn something about a "hydraulic suction screen" Maybe that has something to do with this?
I just hope this does not turn out to be a pump or cluch disk problem. That's big bucks?

Thank you for your suggestions and help.

The suction screen cover is located on the right side of the tractor (looking from rear to front) behind the fender. It is held in place with 3 10mm bolts. The is also a larger bolt/plug in the center that is possibly a drain? Be careful removing this as it seals with an O ring. You will have to drain the hydro oil to get the screen out. Once removed rinse any debris away with diesel or kerosene. The screen is reusable and can be placed back in the tractor after cleaning.

On the bottom of the rear axle, to the very front, just under the drive shaft is a drain plug. I couldn't find this until after making a big mess trying to catch the fluid by taking the filter loose.
On my 3510 Branson it was a lot easier to take the right rear tire and wheel off to get to the screen area. Just use a jack stand for safety.
If your oil still looks good/clean and smells good (no burnt smell) I would re-use it. I took the first 50 hour service oil, checked it and re-used it in an old Clark Forklift that I have. (Much better than the oil/water that was in it!)
The first hydraulic oil change is more critical than others because it will have break in particles but the filter and screen should catch them..

I hope to do these tasks Tuesday or Wednesday. I will get the spin on filter on Monday.
Thanks fellows concerning the suction screen. No doubt that saved me a lot of fluid which could probably be used for other purposes.
