I have reposted this question in the proper forum. But thanks for accepting my question and pointing me here.

I have replaced a hydraulic filter with new filter and gasket. The unit worked for approximately 4 hours before gasket failure. A warranty replacement worked for about 1 hour and blewout. Nothing has changedon my original setup except brand name of filter. The replaced filters were cross referenced and physically are the same size. I need a filter that can filter 28 GPM. What is my problem and what filter brand would you recommend?

You need more detail than this. what is the filter on, Where in the circuit is your filter located, what is the machine for, what level filtering are you trying to achieve, what filters were recommended, what filters do you have (these are all questions), what PSI is your machine

The boys here know way more than me, but my feeling is that you either have an over pressure issue or a bad design.

It might be that you have gone to a finer micron rated filter - more restrictive. This would cause more pressure across the filter and perhaps too much. Is this a return/pressure setup or suction side setup?

Manufacturers do not supply the filter information to will fit suppliers. After all, the manufacturer actually makes more money on service parts than on the first sale so why would the give their competitors the details. Will fit third tier suppliers, the ones you find at auto arts stores, big box stores, etc., buy a sample and try their best guess at matching. Sometimes they work, sometimes they fail. It is a risk buying from a interchange catalog. I've really hated to deny warranty for major failures but finding a "foreign" filter is grounds for warranty denial for most manufacturers. Then it is up to the dealer - will he cover the warranty out of his pocket for customer relations. You probably are buying will fit filters that don't meet the pressure demand of the manufacturer. Sure, the filter company will give you a new filter but will they replace your engine/hydraulic system/transmission? I just changed my Kubota's transmission oil today and noted the warning to use only Kubota oil filters. Same on our John Deere and New Holland tractors.
