So when I run my batwing in float I notice a whats seem to be a little bit of power loss compared to when the tractor is not in float. Also, the noise of the tractor changes a little like the pump is putting a load on the tractor. (tractor is a deere 5500, batwing is a bush hog 2615l)

Is this normal? do I need to adjust linkage going to the valves? new O-rings?

Normally I have plenty of power, but really noticed it over the weekend when moving dead growth with new growth. In float I have to slow down, not in float it powered right through...

Seems like putting the hydraulics in float shouldn't take any power.

Thoughts?

Make sure your remote valve has float function and not just a detent that keeps the lever in place providing constant flow.

In float there shouldn't be any load on the engine.

My guess is that the hydraulics are not in "float", but, rather a position that supplies pressure to a closed valve,,,

My 60 HP tractor does not like it when I accidentally bump the hydraulic lever into the position that supplies constant flow,, with nothing attached,,

That hydraulic valve position would be used for something like a woodsplitter with a remote valve,, or a hydraulic motor running a pump for spraying,, etc,,,

Our Deere has switches on the valve bank that allows the choice of hydraulic motor operation in SCV detent, or float.

It's definitely a float function. It let the wings move freely. Also when the loader is hooked up it when drop in when pushing it into the detent.

I'm thinking its in the linkage, because when putting it in float it would raise my mower deck cylinder very slowly, which is connected to another remote. Take it out of float and it stops slowly raising up (I converted to a DA cylinder to stop this issue, quick fix)

What does that look like? wonder if that could be the issues since when placing it in float raises my third remote set leaks a little pressure, which slowly raises the batwing deck.

My Alamo 16' Batwing had linkages that allowed plenty of travel when the decks were down. I don't recall having to put it in float at all.

Mine were SA cylinders. I had the mower for years and never had a lick of trouble with the hydraulics. When I was demonstrating the thing for sale, I had all kinds of goofy issues with the cylinders and the decks. Trouble I wouldn't have thought possible on something so simple.

The knobs on our 6200 for the hyd motor functions are somewhere on top of each of the SCVs.

Its got about 6 inches of travel on each wing outside of float, but any uneven ground they need to be in float to follow the contour of the ground.

Yeah, maybe I did have to put in in float to go below grade.

DSC03747.JPG Looking at some old pictures, the linkages had one way play in them and the cylinder when down was kind of in a neutral position if that makes sense. So float might not have been needed.
