While changing my two hydraulic filters the oil seemed milky while ( seems like water from previous posts). 200 hrs on a 1999 unit that did some snow removal. I only have 10 minutes or so on the new filters to check for leaks with the old hydraulic oil. So my plan is new hydraulic oil and to just drain and re-use the newly installed filters. I have two questions, first on this tc-29 hydro unit do I drain two or three drain plugs and is it ok to reuse the two filters I just installed after draining them, My manual is for a gear driven unit, are the number of drain plugs the same ? Not sure about pulling the far rear plug. Thanks again looking forward to working the unit after all the maintenance..... Larry

If they were milky in color before then the oil should have been changed then. You will need to change the fluid and install another set of filters to ensure you don't contaminate the new oil.

If you are adamant about not buying new filters you could try filling them with alcohol to absorb the water, then drain well and let them air dry to evaporate the remaining alcohol. Use common rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) or dry gas which is essentially the same stuff.

Before you try this little cheap trick, keep in mind that I have no idea how any remaining tiny traces of alcohol might affect the hydraulic fluid or how the alcohol might affect the physical structure of the filter. If it breaks, I am not to blame.

Cream color may not be water. I had two GMC 3500 trucks 4x4's and changes all fluids at 500 miles to synthetic, and both times the front end hub fluid came out milky. Obviously the fluid was new, just strange looking.

If you are worried about the fluid, capture a little and send it in for analysis and see if water is in it, just to be safe.
