Oil & Fuel Hydraulic fluid dumped in fuel tank of BX23

( I wouldn't worry about it - just drain most of the tank and re-fill it with fresh fuel. I wouldn't bother with changing filters or anything either - after all, diesels pretty much run on anything. )

That's what I'd do.

What are some options to drain the fuel tank? Is there a drain plug like the oil has or do I purchase some type of pump with a hose..if the later, any thoughts on model or pump product to buy..

Thanks everyone for helping..

Here's one way to drain that won't require disconnecting any fuel lines but will drain the last drop:

Close the fuel shutoff.

Put a funnel under the fuel filter assembly, with its bottom end resting in the contaminated yellow jug (or in your oil drain pan).

Remove the filter bowl and filter element, open the fuel shutoff, and let the fuel drain through the filter housing and down through the funnel into the jug.

1/2" clear plastic ciphen hose.

Any box store should have it.

Jim,

Just pull the filter off near the fuel pump and let the tank drain into a container. Install new filters, 2 required, one by the fuel pump another next to the engine, turn on key, let fuel pump fill the line. Go to go.

During Hurricane Wilma I put diesel in a Hydraulic container then I used the wrong container, the one with Hydraulic fluid to fill the tank, my tractor was on for two weeks 24/7 with a pto generator, no problems yet. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Drained the fuel tank and changed the filter under the tractor this evening, then filled with fresh diesel. Took about 3-4 minutes and she finally turned over. The black smoke was everywhere when she finally started then ran pretty smooth.

Plowed the 8 inches of snow from the driveway with ease.
I'm happy to have the BX23 running again. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thank-you very much to all who answered my post. I can always count on TBN members when help is needed. Happy and safe 2006 seat time to all.

It sounds like you are back on your feet after the surgery, at least enough to putter around your tractor a bit - glad to hear it.

See, I told you they run on anything!

Happy New Year - Jay
