hydraulic fluid leak

I have a 1977 john deere 2030 , Hydraulic fluid has started leaking out of the hydraulic pump vent line with engine off whats going on? This has just started ,haven't been using tractor much but loader is strong and power steering good, seems to be no problems ,pump was replaced in March 2015 also filter and fluid.

Hey football, not sure what your problem is, I grew up driving 4030s but never had that problem (usually the opposite, could not keep oil in it), but wanted to give a shout out for Addison, AL. I grew up in Winston County. Welcome aboard, someone on here should be able to help you.

BTW- is your main sump level good?

Look to see if pump drain line is pinched together(kinked).

Yes that's correct line attaches to 90° elbow(parts key 9)

Thanks thought I was correct, but couldn't understand why it had not leaked before.

If it leaks, the line must be cracked. If it leaks while running, then the internal shaft seal could be bad. That line is there to relieve excess pressure from behind external seal to keep it from blowing out.
