Hey guys,

Got the new tractor and the first day there was hydraulic fluid leaking from the FEL. It turns out that it was coming from where the quick connect is. I was afraid to tigthen too tight because I didn't want to strip anything out. Also, the only tools I had at the time were crescent wrenches. My dealer is 100 miles away and I'm having a little trouble getting them to come out. It's football season you know. Is it possible that an o ring is bad or do I just need to give it a little more muscle? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Since it’s leaking take it off and look if it is a pipe thread, or a thread and o-ring seal…

if it is pipe thread you will need thread sealer, if it’s o-ring you need a new o-ring…

you have checked and it is not simply loose /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. KennyV.

Is the leak on the FEL side or tractor side of the quick-connect fitting? On either one, it's going to be easier to do something with the loader off the tractor. I'd wipe the fitting dry and first try tightening it a small amount. If it still leaks, you have to make the decision to fix it yourself or wait until your 50 hr check when you return it to your dealer. You didn't say if the leak was a seep, drip, or stream so that would really be the determining factor for me. If it's a tiny seep or slow drip that just collects a little dirt and I can wipe it off easily, I think I wait and let the dealer fix it. I'm saying that because you really sound like you don't want to mess with it yourself. Good luck and congratulations on your purchase. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Hey guys,

It's that dreaded drip, drip, drip of fluid. It's on the right side of the tractor where the hydraulic lines connect to the fel. This is on a new tc35da. When I get down there today, I've gotten a couple of wrenches that will be easier to work with than a couple of crescent wrenches. I will first loosen, take a look and reinstall. It's kinda tight in their with the loader down but a couple of shorty type wrenches should make it easier to get to.

Thanks for the advice! When I get back to town, I'll report my findings.

James,

I had a very similar situation with a new Kubota a couple of months ago - enough of a drip from the FEL hydraulics to notice, and the dealer wanted me to bring it back 30 miles to look at it. Rather than do that, I looked at it myself and found that the service dept. had not tightened the fittings on the hydraulic block for the FEL when they installed it. It saved me two trips to the dealer and a week (?) of down time by re-assembling the FEL hoses on the hydraulic block and tightening them sufficiently.

It might be worth your time just to check the tightness of your hoses and fittings. It was pretty obvious on mine which ones were loose.

Good luck with it.

Sometimes O-rings can get out of position in the quick-connects.

Good point, Chris! If he's not sure it's a leaky fitting, taking the quick-connects loose and reseating them would sure be a good thing to check.

Hey Guys,

Just got back from the hill country. My dealer sent a guy out to look at it while delivering my new tooth bar. He had a couple of crow's feet wrenches (essential) to get in there. Well he tightened the loose one, tried the fel and announced the problem was fixed. However, the next day it was leaking again. Now, I'm thinking that it is definitely a messed up o ring. I may try to fix it the next time I'm down there or just wait and put up with it until 50 hours. I just bugs me that a new tractor is leaking and is making a mess. Thanks for all the advise.
