Hydraulic help please \"pilot operated check valve\"

Hi All,
I think I am interested in a "pilot operated check valve" in my control valve (so I can use std. cylinders in my toplink without movement). I am looking at some of the Prince models (at the surplus center), and can't figure out which ones can have this is or do have this feature. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Rob

Re: Hydraulic help please \"pilot operated check valve\"

Rob while I can't help you with your valve choice you should also be aware that if the pilot operated check valve is placed at the control valve and a hose bursts to that cylinder your cylinder will still not be protected as it might be if located right at the cylinder itself. I hope this makes sense to you.

PineRidge is right so you got to take your chances. I personally wouldn't worry about a hose rupturing in this application but that is me. YOU have to decide for yourself.

If you want to build your own Prince SV valve with the spool that has the pilot operated check valves then go to Surplus Center's web site (www.surpluscenter.com) and search for Prince SV. Then choose the basic # of spools you want and select spool #L (it's at the bottom of the drop down list) for whichever one you want it to be. The spool by itself will be $109.50. You have to use their configurator to select the spools, inlets and outlets.

If you have problems you can call them directly. Remember that you need double acting spools that spring return to center, the valve has to be open center with power beyond and you should have an adjustable relief valve on the inlet. Anything less and you will regret it.

Re: Hydraulic help please \"pilot operated check valve\"

I snagged a new Cross BA dual off eBay for right at $100.00 shipped. It has built in check valves, adjustable relief valve and Power Beyond. Might be a bit large for a small tractor but it works great and is rated at something like 25 GPM. Have seen others listed after I bought mine. You do have to be sure it has the power beyond option, a Cross valve without it can't be retrofitted. Many are shipped with the option but without the insert. I bought the insert for 11.00 at a local hydraulics place.

I don't think they are pilot operated check valves. They are more than likely load check valves which are pretty common on most valves. There is a very BIG difference in what they are designed to do.

Also a 25 gpm valve is not only overkill for a small CUT it is way too heavy and way too big size wise for a hydraulic system that is anywhere from 5-9 gpm.
