Guys bring on the questions. I've been dealing with hoses, fittings, and etc for 15 yrs but i go into everyday knowing there is always something to learn. i have a vast knowledge of the industry and built hoses out in the field up to 2" ID 6000 psi in coal mines for hydraulic shovels. Granted I thought i just knew hoses until i did it out in the field and could see it all in action. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't crimp this brand or that brand with said crimpers because that is false. All you need is a crimp diameter and find a die the fitting fits securely in and that will compress smaller than given crimp diameter. I have used 2 different dies before crimping the same fitting. Companies pay engineers to crimp and test this brand with that private labelled hose, so when they tell you that this brand fitting will not work on this brand hose that is false as well. A weatherhead 2 wire will work on a gates 2 wire hose just crimp the right diameter and yes experience a field testing go along way in this. Safety is always first. There are only 7 hose manufacturers in the world outside of china so many many times you have various brand or manufactured fittings being crimped on the very select number of hoses. although many hoses have different names they are all manufactured by a select few manu plants and too many come from china. i know i sold chinese hose for 10 yrs and didnt realize it because the company i worked for has a Big tire brand name.
