hydraulic hose question

anyone know the working pressure difference, if there is one, on a 1/2 steel braided cloth covered hose vs. and hose of the same type except it has a green stripe woven in? the kind that you can use the reusable fittings on. thanks , johnny

Different manufactures mark hoses differently. What you need to know is the SAE number like SAE 100R2AT, not what color stripe it has on it.

To determine working pressure for your hose, we need to know either the manufacturer's part number or the SAE specification.

If your hose isn't marked, there's really no way to know what you have.

BTW, reusable hose fittings are available for a variety of hoses. You just need to make sure you have right ones for the hose you are using.

This is one case where you can NOT mix and match, even if the hoses appear to be the same size.

Just what machine, did the hose come off? If you know the operating pressure of the machine it came from, then take it to the hyd shop and order a new one. Their new hose will probably exceed the pressure of the old one anyway. If it is long enough to cut and add a new fitting, maybe the hose guy will try and fix it for you. .
