HARDLY NEW... BUT :confused2:I have found my wit's end working on my tractor. The JD 4610 has factory installed rear HYD for top/tilt and apparently some attachment, (never used yet) and my problem is that when switched from front to rear or vice versa the tilt function (rear and top function) rear both work with the switch set to rear. When set for front or loader, the tilt works fine, but the up and down does not, and now when switched to front, the rear top cyl works instead of the front loader up and down.

I have cleaned and change fluid, reseated the QDs as suggested, took apart the one solenoid valve I could find and it moves with 12 volts is applied.

Something is dreadfully wrong. This started as an intermittent problem last year and seemed only to be an issued after using the rear for a couple of hours. Then I could bring the tractor to idle and/or shut it off and the the loader could drop. No go now. Stuck.

It will move about an 2 inches up or down and the HYD pump does make grunting noises. Seems like some check valve somewhere is stuck, but I do not know. HELP anyone who has knowledge? I'm stuck! HUGS - Troy

Have you taken any pressure readings?

If the engine is turning, the pump should be pumping, and the fluid flowing through some or all valves to the 3pt.

Do you have a good understanding of the hyd flow path? When you move a lever or push a button, something is supposed to happen, and if it does not, you start trouble shooting from that point.

Do you have a manual for your tractor.

If you install a gage in the system, you can monitor and trouble shoot the hyd system.

Troy, your 4610 uses a 4-postition diverter to switch the mid/front SCV's to the rear. Below is the blow up for the diverter unit.

When you said you "took apart the one solenoid valve" is this what you took apart? Did you remove the 4 spools (part number #21 in the rear picture) If so, did you replace them into the same bore they came out of? I suspect this is the bad part, you can try swapping the lift/lower one for another on to see if the problem follows the spool.

Read this long post if you want:http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...rating/236132-deere-110-bb1284-box-blade.html

Its the same basic problem you are describing, the solution starts at post #123. Turns out it was a bad spool LVA12456 Direction control valve (four) $ 300 each

Oh, and no HUGS needed!

I have no gauge, but I know what each movement should be. Everything works fine, and to its optimal work capacity except the loader. That won't go up or down. Bucket tilts fine, rockshaft goes up and down, T and T works fine. Drive good. Power steering great. 4WD fine. PTO fine. Just the bucket won't raise or lower.

Thanks

Yes, solenoid # 19 was suggested. Thank you for your great and in depth knowledge. I will swap a pair of these when the pressure releases - which is about down. Loader finally bleeding down.

Thanks - Troy

Kenny - I'll hug you anyway. Tool all four of the # 21 spools out and cleaned well. All were clean, free of rust, and seemed in good condition per o-rings, etc. I swapped the two that control loader raise and lower. Re-assembled and first time bucket has worked in weeks! Then I switched to the rear and used it for a bit and switched back. URRG no front raise/lower again. I then swapped the A and C valves and it seems fine, I can switch back to front and loader still works. I now suspect a weak return spring in C spool (#21) but seems OK in its current placement.*

My now theory is that the solenoid allows the valve to be fully pressurized activating all spools at the same time for rear operation, and if the loader is up, and is exerting pressure, the changing of the switch back dumps pressure, but the spring that returns the spool to front operation is weak. I think I will eventually need a part # 21 but for now it is a good opportunity to lube, clean, and grease with silicon wire connectors and see how she flies. THANK EVERYONE who has helped. I feel better today and feel I know my tractor a lot better. HUGS! - From Mariposa - Troy and happy JD 4610*
