Being a New-B to this compact tractor world I have lots of questions. And, I think that I have found the right place for answers. Here goes #1 of many. In my BX23 manual It says to disconnect the hyd. line from the BH and loop it back into the return line, before using the MMM or damage "might " occur. My neighbor who has been around tractors all his life says to ignore the warning. Can someone explain what "might" occur if I don't?

I am not all that familiar with how the BX is plumbed but for most tractors, since they have an open center system with a hydraulic pump that is always pumping, the fluid needs a path from the tank thru the pump to all valves and back to the tank. By failing to reconnect the loop, the fluid will have no way to return to the tank, thus causing the pump work against itself and fail very quickly.

First why would you not want to do what the manual says? Next I find it keeps the connectors much cleaner to connect them together. I also connect the two on the BH together even though the the manual does not say to do so. By doing this I believe that it equalizes the pressure in the hoses and I have never had the problem of not being able to reconnect the hoses because of pressure building up in them as many other people have.

WHOA. Don't get me wrong, I will loop the lines every time I switch from bh to mow. What I was aking is what would be damaged if I didn't, and the first 2 posts I got answered my question. I love this place.

Interesting. I'm glad you are satisfied with the answers but, I don't happen to think they answered your question, as I understood it, and you restated it.
Unless I missed it, you were going to leave the BH on with hyd lines connected as usual, ie, looped thru the BH hyd system, and wondered what it would hurt when using the MMM. Thus the open-center circuit is complete and, obviously, hose ends are not exposed. Though I don't have a MMM, nor do I have my manual handy, I believe the MMM is raised and lowered by the 3PH. My best guess on your question would be considering the close quarters of BH and 3PH area on the BX, Kubota is trying to keep you from snagging or pinching the BH hyd lines when the 3PH is raised or lowered. In which case, it "might" damage something but won't inherently damage anything.
Cheers!

The extra weight of the bh on the tractor while mowing might be a bit unsettling. I'd be real careful making close turns as well....personally, I take all of the extra equip off my 2200 before mowing.

I just traded my bx2250 for a bx 24 and kept my mower deck off of 2250. I started to put my deck on tractor but after reading manual it says I can't mount the mower with BH attached. I understand the the hoses attached to BH takes away from lift, but not sure why deck can't be mounted.

I've never mowed with my BH nor FEL mounted as I feel the additional weight mashes the grass down too much which results in a bad looking finish cut, not to mention they make manuvering in tight spaces tricky also.
Together they add over 1000lbs to the tractor.
It takes me less than 15 minutes to dismount both without useing any tools.
The BX23 will give you a very good finish cut when it's not carrying all that additional weight.

The MMM will operate with the BH mounted but you won't be able to drop it all the way to the cutting height because the 3PH arms will hit the BH. As far as the hydraulics go, I don't see how there could be any damage as the hydraulic fluid will pass through the idle BH's circuits just like it would if it was bypassed. I haven't seen that warning in my BX23 manual, the only reference I've seen is to connect the lines together when the BH is dismounted.

Whenever you dismount the BH, you have to loop the 2 rear hydraulic lines on the tractor back to each other, if you don't you'll very quickly dump all your very expensive SUDT fluid all over the ground and burn up you HST.

The Hydraulic line must be looped back to the return connector. If you do not, the hydraulic oil will not complete the circuit This causes the pump to run against the hydraulic relief valve. Your pump would be pumping 2000 psi all the time. Hydraulic oil will not return to the transmission.

I should have put this in a separate post but anyway I was going to attach the mower for protection while working edge of woods to keep from punchering oil filter, I wouldn't mow with BH attached. Can this be done?
