I wanted to tell you guys about what happened to me today to get your general thoughts. I was bush hogging a small area today, about half an acre. It was just tall grass, no saplings. I was heading back to my house when it felt like my drive pedal (HST) was hard to push. The forward movement of the tractor was also erratic. I stop in front of my garage and got off the tractor to find that it was leaking hydraulic fluid on the right bottom of the tractor. I started to look for any obvious signs of damage, and I could not find anything. I put a few layers of cardboard down on the garage floor and drove the tractor into the garage to continue troubleshooting. I looked for any loose fittings, and found none. I checked the filter to see if it was tight, it was. So I got my oil pan out and started to remove each hydraulic hose one by one. My L3800 has the FEL and BH so there is a supply and return that goes to the back of the tractor. These lines have a fabric jacket around them to help keep them safe. I removed both of those lines and removed their fabric jackets. I found a small crack in one of the lines. It was about 1/4 inch long. I took a good look at the fabric jacket and there was no sign of damage. So this had to be a faulty line, right?

My tractor now has 155 hours and I have had three problems with the BH. It is the BH77. The first problem was that one of the pins in the boom arm snapped. This part was under a recall (or whatever the tractor world calls this) and I should have never received the BH with that pin. The second problem was that when the dealer fixed the broken pin (they gave me a new boom arm as well), the lowest pin did not have a bushing installed on it. So the boom would never come up enough to be locked into position. I had to pick up on the boom to lock and unlock it. They installed the bushing about three months later.

I plan on talking to the dealer tomorrow. I hope they will just give me a new line and a gallon of UDT Premium. I cannot move the tractor at this point. All of this should be covered under warranty, I would hope. I have had this tractor for less than a year.

So anyway, what are your thoughts?

So I went to the dealership today and showed the kid at the service department the hose. First he tells me that he cannot get a replacement part for that. I tell him that I think this should be covered under warranty because the tractor is less than a year old. He tells me that the hose is a "Working part" and would not be covered under warranty. "Working part", what the heck does that mean? I didn't say that, but I wanted to. So I told the kid that I would just call the service manager (their main store is in the next town over) on Monday. Does this sound right to you guys?

I belive that your backhoe has a one year warranty. My guess would be that it would be covered.
