Ok i just joined this in hopes someone out there can help me im totally lost when it comes with hydraullics. I have a 12yr old zero turn mower cub cadet 365l and the deck spindles are discontinued so i decided id like to convert it over to use 3 hydraulic motors to run each blade in series and dont know were to start when looking at specs on hydraulic motors i need help matching the motors and the pumps and would like if someone could educate me on how to do this also right now i have a b$s 20hp motor on this mower it would run both the hydrostatic transmissions and the pump for the deck motors also i may be replace the motor eventually for a 1L 15hp diesel that has a max rpm of 3000 but figured id use different size pullys to get up to 3600-4000 rpms just want to know if this motor would be underpowered any help i greatly appreciate

Its your money but I think it will cost you more than its worth it will take a lot of flow to run motors cont. you have heat issues to deal with as a tank to hold volume of oil plus pluming and fab of mounts good luck

Eric,
I have to agree with Rocky on this, It is going to be an expensive conversion that potentially give you less performance since with hydraulics you can figure around 85% or less efficiency Vs belt drive of 95% or better.

You will need gear motors with case drains so that the motors can run in series. Some type of control manifold with relief valves and run down features, Enough clearance between the top of the deck and under side of the mower if belly mount type ZTR.

Reservoir, heat exchanger, etc..

I would also worry about what would happen when a blade strikes an object - probably kill the hyd motor and hopefully the blade won't go flying! Easier to refit it with different spindles or maybe even a different deck? ISZ

I am not one to turn down a good hyd conversion, but I would lean toward making new spindles, or
having them made in a machine shop. You might be surprised at the economics of going that route, vs.
the hyd conversion.
